ANDREW: Today Andrew is still amazingly such a good and patient baby. After all that he has gone through he had to go through one more test today. Today he had a nuclear renogram test on his kidneys, which determines the function of each kidneys. (We were told that despite having a catheter inserted up his you know what, he didn't cry at all. The nurses were quite impressed) The test involved infusing a very low level radioactive dye into his urinary system and instruments detect how effective his kidneys work. The test identified that the output of both kidneys are working just about equal to each other, which means they are both functioning normal. However, neither kidney is draining very well. One good thing, though, is that his right kidney has decreased in size since he was born. Fixing his right kidney isn't as critical as his left so only the left kidney will be corrected for now. The surgery is currently planned for next Monday. His left kidney was the one that had to be drained a couple weeks ago and is the most blocked. The plan is to fix the drainage in his left kidney then fix his right kidney in about six weeks to give him time to heal. Even though the surgery is expected to take 3-4 hours Andrew's urologist said that the recovery is very quick and he could be home a couple of days later. AARON: As for Aaron we never thought we would be so excited about poop than we were today. Early this morning Aaron finally had a bowel movement (BM) all on his own and what a movement he had. It took Katie a while to get him all cleaned up and all his clothes had to be changed. So we hope that he has finally broken his irregularity that he has suffered from for the past couple weeks. Then to our surprise he had another big BM in the early afternoon that made the first one look small. So after changing his formula twice, adding dark Karo syrup to his formula twice a day, tummy messages, and feeding him extra water each day we hope he is on the road to recovery. Andrew amazes me. What a tough little guy he is. Ya for Aaron! He must feel so much better! :)
