DAY 25- MONDAY, MAY 5, 2008

Update coming soon.... 3 hours of sleep last night doesn't give us much energy this evening to type it up!

So do you want to know the reason for only 3 hours of sleep??  We now know what it's like to have a middle-of the-night-run-to-the-store... for suppositories.  Not for Steve or myself but for Aaron.  He was miserable (and so were we).  It was about 3:00 a.m. before he was finally able to relieve himself of a couple of days.  I think we learned our lesson the hard way.  Prevention is the way to go.  Unfortunately, Aaron (and Andrew) will have to be completely formula fed after the first two weeks.  Long story and I didn't have much of a choice.  So constipation is something we'll have to deal with more than we'd hoped.  Otherwise, Aaron is doing very well and  becoming more responsive each day.  

ANDREW- Forget the idea from yesterday about him being able to go home as soon as he's able to eat without falling asleep each time.  In order to not disappoint ourselves we won't put a time table on it.  He's still scheduled to have his kidney surgery in 12 days but he still has a way to go before he's feeding completely from a bottle. And it will actually be a good idea to stay there until after the surgery-- his post-op care will be in NICU/Special Care rather than in Pediatrics.  Andrew is now 5 lbs. 15 oz. and his vitals continue to remain stable.  The reason his weight has decreased somewhat is due to swelling going down.  I wouldn't be surprised if Aaron weighs close to the same amount and Andrew.  We are visiting Andrew at the hospital as often as we're able.  Thanks to so many wonderful friends I am able to go to the hospital during the day and Steve has been stopping by on his way home from work.  Then in the evening around 8 pm either one of us will go or we both go (again, thanks for wonderful friends!).  

We love these boys so much and are so grateful for the joy they have brought into our lives.  Thank you so much for your many prayers.  Miracles really do happen!
