ANDREW: Today Andrew is doing his very best to impress his parents. Andrew is doing a super job at feeding better, he was able to finish every bottle he was given. Since he has been doing so well it is hard to continue to see him cooped up at the hospital. He has passed just about all of his tests to allow him to go home, but he still has a few test to go through before he can. But we feel that the doctors won't allow him to go home for at least a few days because he still has his kidney problem to overcome. He currently has renal ultrasound test scheduled for next Wednesday and another test to determine his kidney function soon after that. We aren't sure yet if he will need kidney surgery, but if he does they have tentatively scheduled one on May 17. But he is still a joy to see every time we visit him in the hospital. We learned that Andrew now weighs 6 lbs. 0.3 ounces, so he is gradually gaining weight. Some of the special care nurses have said that he is also one of the easiest babies to take care of and that he rarely cries. He spends most of the time sleeping away in his little corner (his lucky corner) of the Special Care Unit. Sometimes he will stay awake for a while and just calmly watches things that go on around him. He is also very patient around feeding times and has never demanded to be fed.
AARON: Aaron had another visit with the pediatrician today and so far he is right on schedule with his growth and health. He now weighs 6 lbs. 0.5 ounces and 19 1/4 inches long and has gained a full pound and grown a 1/2 an inch since his last visit two weeks ago. He now weighs slightly more than Andrew. The pediatrician recommended adding a teaspoon of dark Karo syrup to his formula twice a day to help him with his constipation. So we are endeavoring to work on this. Overall he has been sleeping very well today and he is also making it easy on us for now to care for him.
